The Benefits of Pelvic Floor Yoga (for all bodies)
Everyone has a pelvic floor, so why not give it some love and attention? The benefits of yoga speak for themselves: decreased stress, increased mobility and strength, and breathing mechanics (to name a few). The good news? All of these benefits also benefit your pelvic floor health!
Yoga postures naturally have overlap with exercises you may see in pelvic floor PT to help strengthen and lengthen. By taking a yoga class that is specifically focused on the pelvic floor, you can learn ways to help the strength, length, and function of the muscles that do so much for us behind the scenes.
What does the pelvic floor do?
The pelvic floor consists of 14 muscles and three layers that support pelvic organs, control bowel and bladder function, coordinate stability and pressure management, and are responsible for sexual function.
Why pelvic floor yoga?
Yoga combines breathwork, movement, and mindfulness to improve strength and mobility. Muscles need to be able to stretch and contract; your pelvic floor muscles are no exception. By taking a class that focuses on the pelvic floor, you get the added benefit of cueing and asana (poses and postures) that specifically target the hips, core, and back. Focusing on these areas offer support for the pelvic floor and its functions.

So who would benefit? In short, everyone! By taking pelvic floor yoga classes, you focus on breathing, stability, mobility, and strength not only for the pelvic floor muscles themselves, but also for all the muscles that help support them.
Here at Rooted Embodiment, we offer two distinct yoga classes.
